The Choate Rosemary Hall Summer Program in China immerses students in the Chinese culture while dramatically improving fluency in the four essential skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The five-week program, located in Beijing, the capital city, is comprised of one month's study of spoken and written Chinese at the Beijing Language Institute. Each student will live in a dormitory community for two weeks and stay with a Chinese host family for two weeks, while attending classes at the university four hours each weekday. Classes are taught by experienced, native speakers. In the afternoon, students will participate in a variety of activities, such as calligraphy, painting, and dancing, and have an opportunity to attend selected cultural events, such as the Beijing opera.
