Academics
Students take three hours of classes each morning. Courses are devoted to French language, French literature, history of art, and French history. In addition, each student chooses an artistic or cultural topic to research independently in libraries, galleries, or museums. All classes are taught in French by native-speaking French teachers as well as by members of the Choate Rosemary Hall French department.

Afternoons are devoted to exploring the historic and artistic treasures of Paris and are an extension of the morning art history class. These visits are guided by one of the Parisian teachers. Students have free time following the afternoon tours to discover Paris before returning to have dinner with their families. Each evening students prepare homework assignments for classes the following day.
Students who clearly demonstrate progress and proficiency in the major language skills at the close of the program may be eligible for higher placement in their home schools. A written report will be sent to the student's school upon request and is always sent to parents. Choate Rosemary Hall students who successfully complete the courses and who take the French department's placement test may be recommended for a higher level of French in September.
